After checking some information, I am not sure if they are my grandparents or not. They are someones, so I will leave it here with out my lineage attached.
Adam Mott and Elizabeth Creel were married on the 28 of October 1616. The marriage took place in Essex, England. I believe that Adam and Elizabeth where Quakers and I have record of another marriage for Adam to a Mary Lott and that records stated the marriage took place at the Society of Friends in Newport RI.
I am not, at this, moment sure beyond a shadow of a doubt that Mary is a second wife, as I have found other records that say he married second to a Sarah Mott.
While I was tracing from me back to Adam and Elizabeth, I noticed that I had some merging that needed to be done. The merging is now done and I am hoping I did it right! Thank goodness for back ups!
Enos McCartney is the son of my fourth great-grandparents Isaiah and Lettice Hudders McCartney. Enos is the second youngest of twelve children. I believe he was born in Holmes CO., Ohio. His birthdate is 14 October 1829.
I received from the Holmes Co. Library a copy of a Common Pleas case that was between his brother Samuel (administrator of his father’s will) and his mother Lettice,it contains 11 of the 12 children of which he is one (stated that he was a minor) in the summons and proceedings. If I read the case right, there was outstanding debit that had to be paid so they needed to sell part of the farm land, and Lettice was petitioning for Dower rights. The proceeding occurred between 1850 and 1851. In the end I believe they sold about 10 acres. I am wondering what legal age was in the 1850’. If Enos was born in 1829 he would have been around 21. Yet he was listed as a minor in one of the documents.
On this day in 1895, Eliza Jane Elswick was born to Henry and Susannah Hampton Elswick. She was born in the midst of autumn in the mountain country of Kentucky. They called home Hartley, Pike County, Kentucky. Eliza married Joseph Burke the son of James Martin and Susana Hampton Burke on 27 November 1919 in Pike Co., Kentucky.
Joseph and Eliza had five children, the last two being a set of female twins. Eliza and one of the twins died shortly after child-birth. The second twin is my mother in law.
The Susannah and Susana are second cousins, and it is this Hampton ancestry that I connect to my husband through the Jackson family. Soooo we are actually cousins more than once, but who is counting !
Anna Hogston, married William Lewis on 30 Sept 1839 in Washington City, Smyth Co., Va.
Anna is the daughter of John and Prudence Hogston of Smyth Co. Va. Her brother John and Susan Taylor Hogston are Jim’s 3 great-grandparents.
Each time I do this historical day, I find so much more information that needs be to gathered. I don’t know how people can have “done” family trees! Maybe they are just more persistent than I am.
On a side note it is also my Brother-in-laws 54 Birthday and he shared this day with his Aunt Neola G. Burke, she was born on 30 Sep 1920 in Hartley, Pike Co., Ky the daughter of Joseph and Eliza Jane Elswick Burke.
While looking through many blogs in the last few months, I found one that I liked at Kentucky Kindred Genealogical Research (KentuckyKindred) called “Today In Genealogy History” by Phillis Brown. I am going to change this up a bit and do what I am going to call Friday Family History on This Day. Instead of a daily posting I will be going through my genealogy calendar on Friday and picking one event on that day. I can see this not being a weekly by-line as there will be Fridays on the calendar that will be quiet. Join me on this adventure. My first offering is below:

Mary J. Sanders is my husbands 1st cousin three times removed.
On this day, Sept 23, in 1875 she married Meredith Benjamin Martin son of William and Anna Davis Martin. The marriage took place at the home of her parents Wade Hillard and Hannah Potter Sanders in Pike Co., Kentucky.
Meredith married a second time. I have conflicting information about Mary’s death date. So I am not sure if it was a divorce or death that brought this marriage to an end.
Isn’t that funny you solve one question only to find another!
